Scripture.  Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.  Psalm 4:5  KJV

What is a sacrifice of righteousness, we ask when seeing this for the first time?

I have learned that Christ Jesus is our righteousness, by attending a church with a well studied pastor who openly loves Jesus and joining women in the church for bible studies, and my own reading of the bible.

His Righteousness is the only one that God the Father will accept, and rightly so, because it is the only Pure Righteousness that exists.

Still, we must offer up as a sacrifice, all our own righteousness and lay them down at the foot of the Cross and allow Jesus to cover us with His Righteousness.

By doing this, we are  putting our trust in the Lord, as the Psalm verse for today, tells us to do.

This is pleasing to the Lord, and gives a great freedom to the soul.

Pride can be put aside and allowed no more foothold.

Ask the Lord what righteousnesses you have that need to be sacrificed. Listen carefully and offer them up on a daily basis until you have them gone from your life. This is pleasing to Him. He will walk with you and comfort you as you give up your own righteousness and replace it with His.

I know that we are challenged in this area of sacrifice until we pass, because evil wants to fool us into thinking that we cannot receive the righteousness of Christ until we have made all the sacrifices but this is not true.

It is just God's way of telling us it is what we are to do in order to grow spiritually.

The acceptance of the Blood of Christ makes us righteous before God.

But to not grow spiritually, is to be stale; and to be stale is not listening to the Holy Spirit and we do not want to ignore the Spirit Who Jesus loves, and Who loves us.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your Righteousness which covers me. I ask for insight into the sacrifice of my own righteousness that You require me to offer to You this day. Amen.
