Meditation Verse

Scripture.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.  1 John 1:8-10  KJV

The Disciple John, who also wrote the last book in the Bible, Revelation, tells us not to deceive ourselves by saying or thinking we have no sin in us.

God says we do and that settles the matter.  John learned this Truth and passes his knowledge along to us as spiritual guidance; being a teacher of Godly things.

God is the Judge and He is not a liar.

When judged against His Holiness, we do not measure up, no matter how perfect we imagine ourselves to be.

When we look at ourselves in the Light of who God sees us to be, many of the puzzle pieces fall into place and we begin to see things more clearly.

Meditate on the state of your soul as it stands before a Holy God.

Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you your shortcomings.

Be honest with yourself for your soul's eternal sake.

Admitting to the Spirit that you are a sinner shows you are not deceived and you have the Word of God in you.

Jesus is the Word.

How sad it would be to get to Heaven in all our moral righteousness and find that the Justice System in Heaven is Pure and not corrupt like many here on earth.  Our accuser will be hopping from foot to foot in his eagerness to destroy us.

The devil knows every Law we break, in fact it is he who entices us and at the end, accuses us.

We would be found wanting, and we will see the veil cast over us by the evil one that was his snare; but it will be too late for us to do anything about it other than wail and gnash our teeth as the Bible clearly states.

We will also see the many ways that the Lord has shown us His Light and how we held onto our own righteousness and would not exchange it for His Righteousness.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Jesus.  I accept His Righteousness and ask You to help me to turn away from my own righteousness when it rears it's evil head. I ask forgiveness for every sin, both those I am aware of and those of which I am not aware. Cleanse me and make me whole, I pray. Amen.
