Meditation Verse

Scripture.  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: ( For we walk by faith not by sight:)  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.  2 Corinthians 5:6-8  KJV

Paul describes the Christian viewpoint on dying in this letter to the believers at Corinth.

He says we are confident that whilst living, our soul is enclosed in the body. This is something we experience so we can be confident that we know this fact.  Spirit and soul clothed in clay.  Our spirit is absent from the face to face presence of the Lord while we live.

It is our faith that carries us.

We do not see Him in bodily form so our sight cannot help us to know Him as we could get to know a friend here among us.

But, Paul says we should have a second confidence also.

We should be willing he says, to die and not worry about death, knowing that having been saved by the accepting of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for our sins, we have gained the right to be present with Him, face to face in spiritual form, after our physical death.

We have the assurance and therefore we can be confident if we have become a follower and believer in the Son, the Sacrifice for our sins.

We should walk through life with the confidence and assurance that we are going to see God after we die.

We will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
