Pride

A few Scripture passges about pride...

Proverbs 16:5 - Every one (that is) proud in heart (is) an abomination to the LORD: (though) hand (join) in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

James 4:6 - But He (Jesus) giveth more Grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth Grace unto the humble.

Proverbs 16:18-19 - Pride (goeth) before destruction, and an haughty (proud) spirit before a fall

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what (is) that Good, and Acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD (is) to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Friend, our pride, governs our ego and will.

Satan fills us up with pride and many of us love the feeling of being proud.

The world encourages us to be proud.

We say we are proud of our children, proud of having achieved wealth or something that is unattainable to most others.

But God tells us in the Bible that He resists our proud spirit.

It is foolish and governed by satan.

While chatting with Eve one day in the Garden of Eden, where Eve had everything she could possibly want, provided for her by her Father, satan subtley attacked Eve's pride in her uniqueness, intelligence, maturity and standing with God.

He envied her. She was Loved by The Father of Light; The One Who banished satan.

Satan told Eve she didn't know everything, there was more than God had made available to her, and began to tempt her.

Eve's free will chose to stroke her ego, and pride rose within her.

She wanted to show satan that she didn't answer to anyone but herself. She denied her Heavenly Father, and thought she could fool Him because He Loved her so much.

She could have said, "I love my Creator God and do not question Him because He is Good and has my best interests at heart. If there is more for me to know, He will tell me in His Time. My allegiance is to Him."

These are the words of a humble heart, which God loves.

But satan had been laying in wait, and his intentions towards God's people of Eden were not good, for he hates God and wishes to use the considerable power he was allowed to continue with after being banished from his most high station in Heaven, to create problems, and continue on his wicked path.

Satan knew that God had left this one aspect of their being free because it is the very road he walked on when he decided to rebel.

Free Will Gift from God.

He knew all he had to do was plant a send of dissension, and then water it often, with more and more slights against the Goodness of God. He was a master at turning God's creatures against God.

He convinced a third of Heaven to follow Him.

As if God did not know that this could be a situation He would have to deal with!

Our God is Mightier, He is prepared at all times. He has all the Answers and He is in Control; has all the Power.

Satan is dancing around here and there and the only ones he is able to fool is mankind, not God.

Friend, beware of a proud heart.

God warns us that it will destroy our soul.

How can we be proud when it is God alone who helps us and satan alone who uses us for his own delight.

The subject of "pride" deserves much of our thought!
