Why Praise God?

04/30/2020 21:21

A person once said to me that they could not worship a God who needed the praise of men.

Many people think this way, not realizing that if God is Good, holds all the Power, Knows all things, is Love, Truth and Justice, He of course does not NEED our praise.

Then why is praise so important?

It is because God looks on our heart.

If we don't love God, we cannot praise Him genuinely; that is from the heart; from experiencing His Great Goodness towards us.

He knows we are sinners, and He sees those who have been covered by the Blood of His Son's Sacrifice, and He desires we do not stray from Him; that we do not grow cold in our relationship with Him.

Praise is the answer for us!

We're the ones who need to praise; and it is Him only who should be praised.

Every time a believer praises Him, He draws near to that soul; we are rewarded with His Presence, and that benefits us in many ways.

When we praise Him we identify His Goodness to our soul and spirit, and it helps our mind to know He is Good all the time.

Nehemiah the Prophet said in Neh. 9:6 Creator God, I praise You because You made the heavens, even the Highest Heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of Heaven worship you.

Nehemiah called Him the Creator of all things. He knows that a man cannot create the things that God has created.

Man can only take the things that God has created and develop something from the already created. So man is an experimenter.

There is nothing that man can conceive that is good that isn't already found in Heaven. The Blueprints are all there; be it music, art, buildings, machinery, whatever.

King David said in Psalm 89:8 O Lord, God Almighty, who is like You? You are Mighty, O Lord, and Your Faithfulness surrounds You.

King David says He (God) is Faithful to him.

The king of Israel, David, had great wealth and power, and never thought himself better than God.

King David depended on God's faithfulness to him in all he did.

When war was imminent...

2 Chronicles 20:22
And when they (Israelites) began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

King David said the following words...

Psalms 18:3
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

In this next Bible verse we see David inwardly thinking about his soul being depressed. He reprimands himself because he knows for sure as if it is never a question that The Lord is his Hope, Health and his God.
Psalms 42:11
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

We can use these same words when feeling low!

Here we hear David tell us that when we want to communicate with the Lord, we approach the throne Room of Grace and Mercy first by entering the gates of Heaven with Thanksgiving in our hearts and then as we go to the courts of the Heavenly Kingdom we begin to praise Him for Who He Is and what He does for us; then we bless His Name. Jesus.
Psalms 100:4
