Meditation

Scripture.  Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.  Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to heaviness.  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.  James 4:7-10

This verse was written by the Spirit  through James, the half brother of Jesus.

God is very serious here.

He warns us that we must resist the devil.

We must cleanse our hands from the sin we commit with them.

He tells us to not be double minded, agreeing with sin and agreeing with God.

We cannot have one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom.  We are either in the world or in the Kingdom.

To be considered "in the Kingdom," we must draw near to God and be humble minded, knowing that God is righteous in all He has done and all He is going to do.

Our joy should come only from the Lord, not what the world entices us with.

The joy of the Kingdom is the joy that  brings the peace we desire, the knowing that we have eternal life with a King who loves us, who died for us.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for  this spiritual teaching.  Help me to resist the evil one's attacks on me so that I can become strong and be a blessing to others.  Amen.
